Dry Fish Chutney (ഉണക്കമീൻ ചമ്മന്തി / Unakkameen Chammanthi)
Ingredients
- Salted dried fish - approximately
1 cup measure
- Fresh grated coconut - 1 cup
- Green chilies - 6
- Shallots - 4
- Curry leaves - few
- Tamarind – 1 Small piece
- Oil - 5 Tablespoon
Method
- If the fish is too salty you need to soak it in water for 30
minutes to remove some of the salt and drain the fish.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish until it is crisp.
- Remove fish from oil and drain on paper towel.
- Add all the ingredients into a food processor or blender and
blend until combines and coarsely ground.
The salted fish usually has enough salt so you
will not have to add more salt.
